As we head into summer, everyone wants to enjoy the lovely weather but as we enjoy this season, we should also be aware of how to take care of our bodies as we do so. Even if there is a heatwave or cool weather, there are still harmful UV rays that can damage your skin.

As we move into spring and summer, many people start to notice familiar symptoms like sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose. This could be hay fever (also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis), a common allergy caused by pollen.

We’ve been working with local partners to help shape neighbourhood health services around what matters most to people in Rotherham.

Forget the "organic" stickers. The shortest, and healthiest, supply chain starts in your own back garden. Growing your own food is an act of self-sufficiency that turns a few packets of seeds into a powerhouse of nutrition. From plot to plate, the benefits of cultivation go far beyond the harvest, offering a hands-on solution to rising food costs and a direct connection to the seasons that most modern kitchens have long since lost.

Healthwatch Rotherham held a mystery shop at RMBC Riverside House. The purpose of the mystery shopper experience is to see how easy it is for the public to access adult social care information and services. By having individuals pose as potential service users, Healthwatch can assess real-world factors like staff friendliness, response times, and the quality of communication across face-to-face, telephone, and digital channels.

Becoming a parent can be exciting, but it can also bring many challenges. New parents may need help with money, health care, mental wellbeing, and learning how to care for a baby. For some families, language barriers, financial pressure, or lack of local knowledge can make it harder to access support.
This report explains national and local support services available to new parents in Rotherham. The aim is to provide clear information about financial support, health services, and practical help for families.

A new report from The Health Foundation highlights just how essential unpaid carers are, and the growing pressures many face without adequate support.

What is an Enter and View?

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 legislation allows Enter and View activity to be undertaken on premises where health and social care is publicly funded, such as hospitals, residential homes, GP practices, dental surgeries, optometrists and pharmacies. We visit:

To report what we see and hear to providers, regulators, Local Authority and NHS commissioners and quality assurers, the public, Healthwatch England and any other relevant partners to improve the quality of health and social care services.

To develop insights and recommendations across multiple visits to inform strategic decision making at local and national levels.
