Healthwatch Rotherham have secured funding from Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group to trial a new group aimed at getting men talking......about anything!! Rotherham Friendship Lunches and Songs to Remember Launch
Home Instead Senior Care in Rotherham are launching a Friendship Lunches on Monday 21st May 2018 from 12 noon at Sir Jacks in Bramley. Its accessible with good parking. Primarily, the focus is to help tackle loneliness in the community and we aim to arrange a programme of further events. It is open to all. We want to work collaboratively with local organisations and individuals to address important issues affecting our communities, to invite them to participate and to have a part to play in our future events if they wish.

Proposed Budget Cuts
Healthwatch England and Local Healthwatch were formed as a result of the Health and Social Care Act 2012, as as a recommendation from the Francis Report which highlighted the findings from the Mid Staffordshire Trust Public Inquiry, where hundreds of patients died needlessly due to sub-standard care and staff failings. Each Local Authority has a Healthwatch and we are the independent local champion for all residents who use health and social care services, we provide a voice for your community and help to shape future services, whilst keeping a watchful eye on the services currently being provided.

Have your say on the future of research to help people living with and beyond cancer
The National Cancer Research Institute say that more and more people are living with the consequences of cancer and its treatment - what is termed as Living With and Beyond Cancer. But there is not enough research relevant to Living With and Beyond Cancer. They are working on a project to change this and want to hear from people affected by cancer, including patients, families and carers as well as healthcare professionals.

This is because Rotherham Hospital who have provided the REWS service to-date have chosen not to provide this service in the future. NHS England consults on freeing-up £136M to boost frontline NHS care by curbing prescription costs.
NHS England has launched a public consultation on proposals to rein in prescription for some "over the counter" products such as dandruff shampoo and drops for tired eyes, freeing-up up to £136 million to expand other treatments for major conditions such as cancer and mental health problems. Ending routine prescribing for minor, short term conditions, many of which will cure themselves or cause no long term effect on health, would free up NHS funds for frontline care.
