Let's talk - Menopause again at S62!
Every week, from 7-8.30pm, S62 Community Together Rotherham run a Women supporting Women group at The Drop-in Centre, Harding Avenue, Rawmarsh, Rotherham, S62 7DN. These sessions are activity based, where women can talk, create, learn and discover. The sessions offer mood lifting engagement in a safe space.
Throughout the year, they hold occasional guest evenings to cover topics women face throughout their lives. Our Community Engagement Officer Andrea, was invited as a Menopause Champion and Advocate, to come and speak to the group about all things menopause related.
It was a lovely, small gathering that allowed those present to feel comfortable asking Andrea questions as she chatted about the menopause, how it affects people and what support is available for those experiencing it. It is clear that despite efforts to raise awareness of the menopause, there is still work to be done and the group felt that this is especially the case for men so that they can support their partners. Interestingly, the group also thought it would be beneficial for secondary school aged students to learn about the menopause so that they could understand what their mum’s may be going through, which was a point also raised in our previous talk!
The feedback from the group was positive and everyone enjoyed the session and felt they’d learnt something new.
More information can be found about the menopause on our website.
