During October 2024, we spoke to 73 people about their experiences of health and social care services in Rotherham. This was through a combination of in-person engagement and enquiries. You can see the feedback we heard below:

Earlier this year we carried out a survey asking autistic people and people with learning disabilities in Rotherham to tell us about their health care experiences. We wanted to find out what was working well and what needed to be made better. This is our report.

Following on from our successful talks in January, we were invited back to Rotherham College this month to deliver another Let’s talk on Stoptober. This time the talk was delivered by Andrea on her own, but we took it on tour to Dearne Valley College as well!

Friday 18th October 2024 was World Menopause Day and what better way to spend it than having a good old chat about all things menopause related with Healthwatch Rotherham’s Andrea McCann and Voluntary Action Rotherham’s Kathy Wilkinson.

Our Strategic Advisory Board meets every month to steer the strategic direction of Healthwatch Rotherham, ensuring that our vision, aims and values are upheld. The Strategic Advisory Board helps to deliver an effective Healthwatch service in line with current legislation.

We recently carried out a Staff and Volunteer Satisfaction Survey at Healthwatch Rotherham to find out how we are doing and how we can improve.

On Wednesday 14th August 2024, our Community Engagement Officer Andrea went along to the Rotherham Heart Support Group at the United Reform Church in Rotherham. She was joined there by Yvonne Hargreaves from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to talk to the group about CPR and defibrillators.

During April 2024, we ran a survey where we asked Rotherham residents to tell us about their experiences of travelling to their healthcare appointments.

On Monday 3rd June 2024, two trained representatives from Healthwatch Rotherham visited Swallownest Health Centre to carry out an Enter and View visit.

The purpose of the visit was to:
● collect the views from patients, families, volunteers and staff on services
● observe how the facility operates and provides its services
● identify ‘Best Practice’ and highlight any areas of concern
