Let's Talk Menopause: Event Write-Up

Our first Let’s Talk of 2023 focused on the menopause.

There has been an increase in media coverage on the menopause and following our recent report into accessing health and social care information, some respondents mentioned they would like more information on the menopause and what support is available to them in Rotherham.

We had 5 attendees to our event including our guest speaker. If you were not able to attend, please see the event summary below including the presentation slides. If you have any questions for our speakers, please contact us and we can pass these forward.

Sony Sara George:

We were joined first by Sony Sara George, who is a registered nurse in Sheffield. Sony discussed what the menopause is, signs and symptoms of the menopause, lifestyle changes you can make and help and support that is available. You can read this information in full on the slides below.

Jane Owen:

Following on from this, Jane Owen, a link worker provided some information to share with the group as sadly she could not make the event. Jane discussed some support groups available local to Rotherham, where women can discuss the menopause and any symptoms or issues. Again, all this information is available on the slides below.

Video:

Mariah, our Community Engagement Officer, then showed the group an NHS video which showcased personal stories of those living with the menopause. You can view the video in full below.

A huge thank you to our guest speakers for providing some really useful information on the menopause, and the assurance that there is support out there for women, and you do not have to go through this alone.

Upcoming Let’s Talk event:

Our next event will be focusing on Eating Disorders, and will take place on Wednesday 15th February 3pm-4pm via Zoom.
