Earlier this year, the NHS published a document called the NHS Long Term Plan which highlighted ways that health and care services locally could better support people's health and wellbeing through the services they provide and how they are run. We want to know what you think about the areas covered in the Long Term Plan so that we can develop our own plan for health and care services across Barnsley, Bassetlaw, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. The plan needs your help to reflect your needs and make sure that you, your family and community can get the care you need, when you need it. Next Thursday 6th June, South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICS are running two sessions and they would love for you to join them.
Based on the feedback received so far, the sessions will focus on five areas;
1 - Prevention, Promoting Independence and Self-Care; We know that by better supporting people to live active, healthy lives (cutting down on things like smoking and alcohol use), we can prevent many illnesses from developing. What do you think we could do better or differently?
2 - Cancer; The Long Term Plan sets out ambitions to introduce lung health checks, increase screening uptake (eg, cervical screenings or "smears") and to make sure that every person diagnosed with cancer has a personalised plan for their care. Do you have any thoughts on this?
3 - Mental health and learning disabilities; The Long Term Plan suggests we should focus on preventing suicides, expanding 24/7 crisis services for adults and children creating new mental health teams to support children in schools. Do you think these are the right areas to focus on?
4 - Care in your neighbourhood; The Long Term Plan suggest developing Primary Care Networks which brings together GP Services in local areas, joining together with other healthcare services to provide extended services within communitities and upgrading NHS support in care homes through different kinds of carers and roles. We want to know how you think this could work in your area.
5 - Digital; With developments in technology ever-advancing, should the NHS be using digital technology more? Could we better meet people's lifestyle needs?
You will have the opportunity to discuss these areas in more detail, as well as asking questions to the expert panel.
Sessions will take place on the 6th June 2019 at The Source, 300 Meadowhall Way, Sheffield, S9 1EA 10.30am to 12.30pm or 5.30pm to 7.30pm
