Rotherham Older Peoples Forum, Age UK Rotherham and Rotherham Healthwatch are again working together to ensure that older peoples voices help to shape changes in the local community and services in ways that reflect our ageing community. We hope to engage a range of local people and other partners to think about how we can continue to help Rotherham become a place that is more age friendly - a great place to grow old and live in later life.
Learning from what we were told last year older people will lead these conversations and our aim is to gather a wide range of views about the future of our communities. Through this project we are asking "How can Rotherham become more age friendly in the next ten years?"
We are holding 3 key listening events during the month to promote this - these are:
1 - "Tackling Loneliness" on Older Peoples Day - on Monday 2nd October 2017 at 10am to midday, Rotherham Older Peoples Forum will lead us in celebrating the International Day for Older Persons 2017 with an information event at Rotherham Minster.
2 - On Wednesday 25th October 2017 at 10am to 2.30pm and AGE FRIENDLY ROTHERHAM event at Rotherham Town Hall will provide updates on what has happened in the last year and provide an opportunity to be part of the discussions about what we need to do. This will include the launch of the report from Rotherham Older People's Forum' recent research into loneliness in Rotherham and further conversations about helping Rotherham to become more age friendly.
3 - On Monday 30th October 2017 at 10am to 12.30pm Rotherham Healthwatch are holding their annual event focussing on OLDER PEOPLE'S HEALTH ISSUES at the Fitzwilliam Arms Hotel, Parkgate.
