The Hello my Name is tour hits Rotherham

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust was selected as just one of a handful of healthcare organisations nationally to receive a prestigious visit from Kate Granger. Kate creator and champion of the "Hello my Name is" campaign has worked in elderly medicine in Yorkshire as a consultant and registrar and has terminal cancer. Kate began and spearheaded the "hello my name is" campaign after she noticed some doctors, nurses and support staff delivering her care failed to introduce themselves - a simple action that makes a massive difference to the experience patients have.

The campaign has received nationwide success with NHS organistions and online communities up and own the country pledging to say "hello my name is" when caring for patients. Kate's visit to Rotherham was stop 14 of 15 of the tour which has spanned England, Scotland and Wales. Staff described Kate's talk at the Trust as "inspirational and humbling" and those who attended went away eager to continue Kate's legacy by carrying the hello my name is campaign forward.

We are delighted that Kate herself has supported our commitment to the campaign by selecting our Trust to visit. I have personally committed to "hello my name is" and encourage others to do the same so that together we can make a positive difference to how patients feel.

Louise Barnett - Chief Executive, The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.

As part of her visit to Rotherham Kate signed a pledge which will be displayed around the Trust as a lasting token of the commitment made on the campaign's behalf.
